Scholarships

The average family income of UW-River Falls students is the second lowest in the University of Wisconsin System. Securing access to higher education for tomorrow's leaders is a strategic priority of the UW-River Falls Foundation. For more than 60 years, the Foundation has made it possible for generations of students to attend UWRF. Scholarships provide students with critical financial support and access to unique educational opportunities.

University Advancement staff are available to discuss scholarship options that will align with your personal interests. Please call us at 715-425-3505 or by email.

Chancellor's Scholars Scholarship

Chancellor's Scholars is the university's premier scholarship program. It is an opportunity for UWRF to recruit some of the best and brightest students. Incoming students chosen for this competitively-selected scholarship demonstrate leadership qualities, extracurricular involvement and academic merit. Depending on the size of the gift, the scholarship will cover either half or full in-state tuition and fees. Donors give a minimum endowed gift of $100,000, an annual gift of $4,000 for half tuition or $8,000 for full tuition.

Falcon Scholars Endowed Scholarship

Falcon Scholars is the signature scholarship program at UWRF. It was established in 2012 as a partnership between alumni and students. Scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to incoming students who demonstrate strong academic academic achievement. Students also receive a $2,000 stipend in their junior or senior year, funded by a commitment from the UWRF student body, to study abroad or participate in undergraduate research, scholarly, or creative activities.

Endowed Scholarships

A named endowed scholarship creates a legacy that will benefit students for generations to come. A one-time gift, a multi-year pledge or provisions in your estate plan will create your scholarship. The minimum gift is $25,000. Over time, additional contributions to the endowment ensures the fund will keep pace with the rising cost of tuition.

Annual Scholarships

Simple and effective, with a minimum donation of $1,000 you can create a named annual scholarship to support a student. With college tuition rising each year, some donors choose to support students with a larger award. Foundation staff will work with you to develop your scholarship criteria and will contact you each year for a commitment to fund your named annual scholarship.

Selection Process

Scholarships are typically selected in the spring prior to the academic year that the student receives the award. A university-wide or a college scholarship committee oversees the selection process. Please note, Internal Revenue Service regulations prevent donors from designating family members as scholarship recipients or from selecting the recipients.
