UW-River Falls named 'Top Midwestern University' by Princeton Review

August 14, 2017-- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has received two honors from The Princeton Review, a national tutoring, test prep and college admission services company.

UW-River Falls was named one of the publication’s 138 “Top Midwestern Universities” for 2018 and made its “Green Colleges” list, placing UW-River Falls in the top 15 percent in the nation from more than 2,000 institutions rated.

The “Top Midwestern University” designation is reserved for those the publication considers “academically outstanding,” while the “Green College” list honors institutions committed to sustainability and green practices. The company’s rankings are based on surveys of 137,000 students nationwide.

“We’re very pleased to have received these designations which recognize our students for their commitment and our faculty and staff for their excellence,” said Chancellor Dean Van Galen. “Student surveys showed our core values are upheld across our campus resulting in dynamic, impactful learning experiences in a highly supportive environment.”

The Princeton Review publishes college rankings and provides for-fee services in test preparation, admissions counseling and private tutoring. Survey results are available at www.princetonreview.com (account signup required).

“They (the rankings) are based entirely on data we gather beyond academics that gives insight into what the schools' enrolled students say about their professors, administrators, school services, campus culture, and student life,” Robert Franek, Princeton Review editor-in-chief said in a news release. “In the end, it's all about the fit.”

Founded in 1874, UW-River Falls is located in a scenic community just 30 miles from downtown St. Paul. UW-River Falls students are empowered, beginning in their first semester, to participate in hands-on research, global travel, and collaborative learning with award-winning and caring faculty.
