Online classes for workforce development offered

October 22, 2018 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has partnered with a national training provider to offer workforce development classes, certificates and certifications that are 100% online.

“It can be difficult for small or rural employers to build the compacity and expertise they need in their current workforce,” said Randy Zimmermann, director of UWRF Continuing Education. “With these classes, employees need only access to the internet to learn and acquire new skills for their current and future careers.”

An online catalog found at https://uwrf.theknowledgebase.org provides a complete list of courses and registration instructions. Online classes may be delivered live on a certain date and time or asynchronous, meaning that students can complete the work at a time and place that fits their schedules.

In some cases, class registration includes access to exams necessary to complete professional certifications or certificates. Categories that are expected to be most useful for business owners and employees include the areas of human resources, project management, marketing, sales, bookkeeping and Microsoft Office software, according to Zimmermann.

UW-River Falls offers these online courses in partnership with ProTrain, a leader in workforce development classes. Founded in 2004, ProTrain offers quality classroom and online training through partnership with institutions of higher learning. They also provide mentors to guide and support students taking classes.

UW-River Falls provides lifelong learners with academic, professional development and enrichment programs that are practical, flexible, convenient and affordable. A complete list of courses, course descriptions and registration information is available online at http://go.uwrf.edu/ce, by calling 1-800-228-5607 or by sending an email to continuing.ed@uwrf.edu.
