Bachelor of Fine Arts Students Exhibit Works at UW-River Falls

March 25, 2011—Four University of Wisconsin-River Falls students are set to present their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree exhibition, “Form & Figure” in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building April 4-11. A reception is set for April 8 from 5-8 p.m.

Chelsea Kelly of Andover, Minn., who has an emphasis in metals and a minor in photography and art history, will be displaying jewelry made from found objects commonly associated with brutality and stigmas such as bullets casings, bones and teeth.

Abby Hubbard of River Falls has an emphasis in painting and a minor in art history and will showcase her portraiture in oil paints. She will display several portraits of people close to her and some self-portraits as well.

“I use portraiture to either gain a closer relationship with the images of interesting people or to express my ideas or feelings about societal and personal issues,” says Hubbard.

Kevin Landsverk of Aitkin, Minn. has an emphasis in ceramics and a minor in glass blowing. He will display a number of his figurative sculptures in this show. His work will all be ceramic and abstract in nature, capturing human emotion and identity in a minimal form.

Joseph Moore of Wayzata, Minn. also has an emphasis in ceramics and a minor in glass blowing. His work is centered around the female form as he focuses on the lines and shapes that compose the figure. He has carved out low reliefs from clay slabs and finishes them with a pure white glaze.

The event is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 2-4 p.m. For more information, call the UWRF Art Department at 715-425-3266.
