Falcon Tuition Promise
Wisconsin residents could be eligible for free tuition!
UW-River Falls wants to make sure finances are not a barrier to your education. That’s why we are now offering a Falcon Tuition Promise to support eligible first-year Wisconsin students to guarantee funding of all your tuition and fees after other grants, scholarship and aid have been applied. No need to apply. Once you complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), you'll be automatically considered.
What is the Falcon Tuition Promise?
This is a UWRF grant program that is open to first-time new and transfer students admitted to a bachelor’s degree program, enrolling at UW-River Falls for the first time.
Am I eligible for the Falcon Tuition Promise?
Here are the criteria:
- Qualify for Wisconsin resident tuition;
- Have not already earned a bachelor’s degree or higher;
- Be admitted to UWRF in any term between summer 2026 and spring 2028;
- Be enrolled full time in a bachelor’s degree program (minimum 12 credits fall and spring);
- Submit the FAFSA® by the 1oth day of classes your first semester;
- Have a Total Income on the FAFSA® of less than or equal to $62,000;
- Have a Net Worth on the FAFSA® of less than or equal to $300,000.
What costs are covered in the Falcon Tuition Promise?
- Academic fees (i.e. Wisconsin resident tuition)
- Segregated fees (including textbook rental fees)
- Online fees
- Required course fees
We will add up the above tuition and fees, then subtract everything covered by your financial aid package (state and federal grants and institutional scholarships). Any amount left over will be paid by the Falcon Tuition Promise.
External scholarships not designated for tuition and fees and Fund for Wisconsin Scholars grants/stipends are excluded from the calculation.
What costs are not covered by the Falcon Tuition Promise?
Housing, meal plans and any other costs a student may incur beyond those listed are not covered.
What if I live in a state other than Wisconsin?
Unfortunately, residents of other states are not eligible for the Falcon Tuition Promise. To qualify for the program, you must be a Wisconsin resident for tuition purposes.
Residents of other states, including Minnesota, may be eligible for one of our numerous scholarship programs instead!
What if I don’t qualify for the Falcon Tuition Promise?
We offer a number of other ways to help you keep your UWRF education affordable. Our Paying for College webpage has a number of helpful links.
There are millions of dollars in over 800 privately funded scholarships available every year. Be sure to review those you may be eligible for and apply!
Keep in mind that it's incredibly important to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year as soon as it is available. It might mean even more free money to cover your college costs!
How long can I participate in this program?
A student can qualify for the Falcon Tuition Promise program for up to 10 semesters, not including winter or summer terms.
Applying to UWRF is as easy as 1-2-3! Depending on your admissions type (incoming first-year, graduate, transfer, etc.), the process may vary slightly but don’t worry, we explain everything. And if you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
