UW-River Falls collaboration with Chinese university and RFSD continues


July 8, 2019 – A delegation from the Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST), Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, met last week with University of Wisconsin-River Falls deans, faculty, and senior administration to discuss partnerships for international student and faculty programs in a number of areas including computer science, physics, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), business and economics.

The delegation of Vice President Fang Wenbin, Vice Dean Wang Yuqi in the School of Economics and Management and Deputy Director Shao Yang in the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges also visited with River Falls School District administration and NCCM, a global manufacturer headquartered in River Falls.

“We look forward to developing new opportunities for collaboration in a range of academic fields,” said Heidi Soneson, UWRF assistant vice chancellor for international education. “HUST is a highly valued partner institution.”

UW-River Falls has worked with HUST since 2016. The University of Wisconsin System signed an MOA with the provincial government of Heilongjiang Province (HLJ) in 2017 to develop programs that will benefit both UW System institutions and universities in HLJ.

Heilongjiang Province and the State  of Wisconsin have shared an active sister state relationship since 1982.
