UW-River Falls statement on recent graffiti and vandalism on campus

September 16, 2020 - Disturbing messages spray painted on UW-River Falls property yesterday have impacted members of the campus community.

Symbols, statements and acronyms used in this act of vandalism were derogatory toward police and were found in more than ten locations throughout the city of River Falls, including campus and the River Falls Police Department.

UWRF appreciates and supports the dedication of its police force in keeping the campus safe and treating everyone with dignity and respect. Based on input from the UWRF Police Chief Karl Fleury, UWRF has no reason to believe there is any threat of violence associated with the graffiti.

UWRF takes pride in its value of inclusivity and does not condone graffiti as an appropriate manner of expression.

The University Police Department and the City of River Falls Police are jointly conducting an investigation into this matter.
