UW-River Falls Faculty Member Chosen as Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Fellow

September 6, 2013— Erik Johnson, assistant professor of communication studies and theater arts, has been selected as a 2013 Seminar Fellow by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, an organization perhaps best known for presenting the Emmy Awards.

Administered by the Television Academy Foundation's Education Programs department, the faculty seminar offers college professors opportunities to see how television entertainment works behind the scenes. Twenty faculty members, chosen by a selection committee, are invited to Los Angeles for five days of discussions, presentations, and interactions with major studios, production companies, the networks, and their top production and programming people. This year's seminar will be take place Nov. 11-15.

"As has been the case throughout my professional career, I have been inspired by the work of others in the field of production and I am sure this opportunity will be no exception," said Johnson. "I am also sure this experience will help me to inspire our students at UWRF and continue to build upon my teaching toolbox in DFT and hopefully establish relationships for future partnerships."

More information about the faculty seminar is available at http://www.emmysfoundation.org/faculty-seminars.
