April 22, 2011--The annual University of Wisconsin-River Falls colts in training auction will take place on April 30. ColtSale

The preview of sale horses will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow at 12:30 p.m. The sale is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Laboratory Farm One, located at the corner of Wasson Lane and Cemetery Road in River Falls.

All colts featured in this program were selected based upon their outstanding bloodlines. Sires to the colts include Starlights Wrangler, Big Chex to Cash, Skeets Peppy, the Great Resolve and Hollywood Dun It as well as several other top proven producers.

The colts in training program is unique to UW-River Falls. Students spend 90 days working and training their assigned colts under the supervision of Animal and Food Science Lecturer Nathan O’Connor. The class focuses on training methods that have evolved from renowned trainers.

After extensive preparation and hard work, all of the colts develop strong fundamental skills and are ready to excel in any direction. Students learn to communicate effectively as trainers and are responsible for the care of their horses throughout the course. They also gain knowledge of the equine industry through proper marketing and representation of their sale colts.
