UW-River Falls to host bull buying seminar for St. Croix Valley Bull Test April 7
 

March 27, 2018 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, St. Croix Valley Bull Test, and the UW-River Falls Student Beef Management Team will host a bull buying educational seminar on Saturday, April 7. Topics related to herd management decisions will be covered and there will be an opportunity to preview the 46 bulls that will be for sale later in April.

The seminar starts at 11 a.m. with a presentation by Roger Winter, D.V.M., titled “Trace Mineral Functions and the Use of Timed Injection of Multimin 90 to Improve Reproduction and Immunity.” Winter, from Kansas, has served beef producers for over 30 years in private practice and in allied animal industries. Gary Onan, UWRF professor of animal science, will speak on factors impacting the value of the bulls and give an overview of Expected Progeny Differences.

Following the seminar, attendees will be able to preview the sale bulls. The consigners of the bull test will also be available to answer questions.

The educational seminar is free and open to all at the UWRF Dairy Learning Center at the Mann Valley Farm, 129 S. Glover Road, River Falls. The UWRF Student Beef Management Team will be providing lunch.
