UW-River Falls Seeks Exhibitors for 2012 Career Fair

July 6, 2012--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) is seeking employer involvement for the Career Fair, which will be held Oct.17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom of the University Center. This event was a recruiting opportunity for more than 80 organizations in 2011.

"Attending the Career Fair was a great experience and it really opened my eyes to the competitiveness of the job world," a 2011 attendee stated. "I know for a fact that if I wouldn't have attended the fair I would have missed out on all the doors that have been opened for me and connections that I have made."

This year's Career Fair theme is "The Next Stop on your Career Path." The Career Fair gives students the opportunity to meet and network with potential employers and graduate schools. Students can learn about possible internships or careers with the employers that relate to their current area of study.

UWRF Career Services has increased efforts of preparing students for the Career Fair by enhancing the prep session that is offered two days before the event. The session features hands-on learning stations which enable students to learn about researching organizations, practice networking and conversing with recruiters, create appropriate application materials such as cover letters and resumes and how to dress professionally. Career Services makes the Career Fair dates known throughout campus by using promotional materials such as posters in the residence halls; campus TV slides; advertisements in the campus newspaper, the Student Voice; and classroom handouts.

UWRF has a reputation for offering quality academic programs in more than 45 degree areas within the four colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Professional Studies, the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences and the AACSB accredited College of Business and Economics.

Career Fair registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum capacity of 90 booths.  UWRF Career Services encourages interested parties to register as early as possible. Registration opens July 17 and costs $200 through Aug. 31. Registration then costs $225 until Sept. 28 when registration closes. More registration details and information can be found at www.uwrf.edu/careerfair or by contacting Elizabeth Byers, career fair coordinator, at cfcoordinator@uwrf.edu or 715-425-3572.
