Prom Dress and Accessories Drive to be Held at UW-River Falls

March 11, 2011— The University of Wisconsin-River Falls in conjunction with Ever After Gowns, a Minnesota-based non-profit corporation, will be hosting a dress drive Mar. 23-25. Dresses, shoes and accessories can be dropped off at the vendor table in the lower level of the University Center from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

UWRF's project began with a group of students who partnered with Ever After Gowns for a hands-on learning experience for their class, Non-Profit Marketing.

“Ever After Gowns is a great organization and I am thrilled we can work with them to help meet their goal of providing a memorable prom experience for underprivileged high school women,” says Brandon Meyer, a junior marketing communications major from Hudson.

Ever After Gowns was founded by a group of friends who saw a need in their community. Their mission is to provide the proper attire so that high school women, regardless of race, creed, color, ability, or ethnic heritage, can attend a school dance. Clients are pre-selected by their high school guidance counselors, based on financial need, and the items they choose are theirs to keep at no charge.

Donations can include new, modern and gently used dresses, shoes, purses, clutches, jewelry and other formal wear items. New makeup and spa products are welcome as well as monetary donations. Ever After Gowns strives to offer a variety of styles and sizes to meet a wide range of tastes and needs. All donations are tax deductible.
