Photography Exhibition at UW-River Falls Focuses on US/Mexico Border

La FronteraAugust 21, 2015 -- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department will host an exhibition of three internationally recognized photographers:  Byron Brauchli (Mexico), Laura Migliorino (USA), and Anthony Marchetti (USA) beginning Sept. 2 in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. All have spent extensive time creating documentary photography along the United States-Mexico border.
 
The exhibition, “La Frontera/The Border,” will kick off the 2015-16 Gallery 101 season, in conjunction with other UWRF Year of Mexico events. The exhibition runs Sept. 2-Oct. 8 and will be accompanied by two public lectures, a photographic print workshop, and a gallery discussion/reception. All are free and open to the public with the exception of the print workshop.
 
An exhibition opening and Q&A with the artists is Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 4-6 p.m. in Gallery 101.
 
A public lecture by Byron Brauchli is Thursday, Sept. 10, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Kinnickinnic Theater in the University Center.
 
A photographic print workshop with Byron Brauchli (for UWRF students only) is Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the photography and printmaking studios on campus.
 
A public lecture by Anthony Marchetti and Laura Migliorino is Monday, Sept. 21, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Kinnickinnic Theater in the University Center.
 
The exhibition has been made possible, in part, by funding through the “Year of . . .” program at UW-River Falls. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. For additional information, call the UWRF Art Department at 715-425-3266.
