CAFES awards scholarships and recognizes outstanding faculty and service
May 2, 2023 - More than $229,000 was awarded to students in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at their Annual Scholarship and Awards Recognition Program on April 20. Students, donors, faculty and honored guests made up the nearly 200-person audience. The 170 scholarships were awarded to continuing students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors in the 2023-24 academic year.
 
CAFES outstanding seniors honored at senior supper
May 10, 2023 - The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls presented two awards to outstanding seniors at their 40th Annual Senior Supper on April 26. The event is sponsored by the CAFES Alumni Association to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating seniors and to welcome them into the alumni family.
 
Chishty selected as dean of the College of Education, Business and Allied Health
May 12, 2023 - Muhammad Chishty, Ph.D., has been selected as the dean of the newly established College of Education, Business and Allied Health (CEBAH) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
 
Keynote speaker praises graduates for overcoming obstacles leading to graduation
May 6, 2023 - University of Wisconsin-River Falls graduates have faced all sorts of challenges, including the Coronavirus pandemic, and have worked hard to overcome them to graduate with their degrees, renowned Minnesota high school basketball coach and keynote speaker Larry McKenzie told attendees at the university’s graduation ceremonies May 6.
 
Kisting selected as College of Arts and Sciences dean
May 19, 2023 – Wesley Kisting, who worked as an associate dean and an English professor at a Georgia university, has been hired as the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. 
 
Lenzmeier named 2023 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist
May 1, 2023 - David Lenzmeier has been named the 2023 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist by the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Lenzmeier is CEO of Milk Specialties Global and an alumnus of UWRF. Dean Olson, CAFES interim dean, presented Lenzmeier with the award at the college’s Annual Scholarship and Awards Program in front of an audience of nearly 200 students, donors, faculty and staff on April 20.
 
Registration open for Farm and Industry Short Course at UW-River Falls
May 24, 2023 - Registration is open for the popular, longstanding Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls this fall. The program had been held at UW-Madison since 1885 but is moving to UW-River Falls for the first time this year.
 
Retired professor honored for her Montessori work
May 8, 2023 - After educating more students and teachers than she can count in locations across the United States and around the world, retired University of Wisconsin-River Falls educator Gay Ward is receiving recognition for her tireless efforts to help others learn through the Montessori method, one person at a time.
 
St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center celebrates five years of helping grow businesses
May 30, 2023 - Five years after it first opened its doors as a place to grow businesses, the success of the St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center (SCVBIC) was evident in the form of attendees celebrating that milestone.
 
Student awarded top national internship honor
May 18, 2023 – When Emily Larsen headed to Peyton, Colo., for an internship at a major greenhouse last summer, an award was the last thing on her mind. 
 
Students offer advice for landing a job before graduation
May 3, 2023 - One University of Wisconsin-River Falls student who will graduate on May 6 will realize her dream job of teaching school. Another will work as a pediatric speech and language pathologist, while still another will operate her own business. Others were admitted to doctoral programs.
 
UW-River Falls one of eight recipients of state meat processing infrastructure grant
May 16, 2023 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has received a $20,000 meat processing infrastructure grant from the state to renovate its livestock holding pens and handling facilities, an effort that will increase student learning opportunities and help address a meat processing shortage in Wisconsin.
 
UW-River Falls teams take top awards at national competitions
May 11, 2023 - Coryn Davidson and her three teammates on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls’ Ag Business Team arrived at a national competition in Modesto, Calif., with high hopes.
