Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebrations Combined at UW-River Falls

September 22, 2014—UW-River Falls will welcome alumni, parents, families, and students to campus October 3-5 for the annual Homecoming celebration. The traditional Homecoming festivities have been combined with the annual Family Weekend event to create one large celebration bringing parents and family members together with alumni and students. The coordinating committee is expecting a large turnout for this event and is excited to showcase the campus and the River Falls community. 

UW-River Falls is looking for interested downtown businesses to participate in the annual window painting event scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5-7 p.m. Windows will be assigned to UWRF registered student organizations to paint a scene in keeping with the Falcon Pride Homecoming theme. Businesses interested in volunteering their windows for the painting competition should contact Maranda Mahr, event and program coordinator with the River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, at 715-425-2533 or email maranda@rfchamber.com. 

The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, and will travel down Main Street beginning near The West Wind Supper Club and ending by Family Fresh. Alumni, parents, families, students, and community members are invited to come enjoy the parade.   

Numerous campus events open to the public on Saturday following the parade include: 

• North Hall Centennial Building Tours, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
• Falcon Fest Tailgate, noon-4 p.m., University Center mall 
• Demonstration by the Chem Demons, 12:30 p.m., University Center mall 
• Football vs. UW-Stevens Point, 2 p.m., Smith Stadium at Ramer Field
