Expanded UW-River Falls Summer Concert Series Begins June 7

May 27, 2011--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls’ annual summer concert series, “Chill on the Hill,” kicks off June 7, with an expanded lineup of performances.

The concerts will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights in June, July, and for the first time, August, in the Melvin Wall Amphitheatre, located on campus along the South Fork of the Kinnickinnic River.

“This year’s concert lineup will feature local, regional, and national acts presenting a wide variety of music including bluegrass, Brazilian, folk, rock, reggae, show choir and more,” says Karyn Wells, UWRF event coordinator.

The first concert will feature Art Stevenson and High Water, a bluegrass band from Babcock. Future shows this summer include Forro in the Dark, the Chris Silver Band, the Tommy Bentz Band, the Kids from Wisconsin show choir, Willy Porter, New Primitives, the Chapin Sister, Rogue Valley and the St. Croix Valley Community Band.

“Due to continued support from the campus and community, the Summer Concert Series has expanded throughout the years and now provides a ten-week series,” says Wells.

The concerts are free and open to the public. Grilled food, beverages, Falcon Foods ice cream and Rush River beer will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and may pack a picnic, but carry-in alcohol is not permitted. In the case of rain, events will be held in either the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center or the North Hall auditorium.
