Dedication of New Buildings to Kick-Off Weekend of Homecoming Events at UW-River Falls

Sept. 24, 2012—A busy weekend of Homecoming events at UW-River Falls, Sept. 28-30, will begin with the dedication of the new Jesse H. Ames Suites and Ann Lydecker Living and Learning Center. The dedication ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 and will include refreshments and tours of the new buildings.

The names of the two facilities, selected by UWRF students and approved by the UW System Board of Regents, were chosen to honor two outstanding leaders of UW-River Falls. Ames served as president of UWRF from 1917-1946, successfully leading the institution through difficulties associated with the Great Depression and World War II. Lydecker, who served as chancellor from 2000-2004, became known as the "Students' Chancellor" due to her close connection with students. Lydecker also oversaw the establishment of the College of Business and Economics at UWRF before her untimely death in a car accident in March 2004.
