2019 Vento Scholarship awarded to UW-River Falls graduate student
December 17, 2018 - A graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is the 2019 recipient of the Bruce F. Vento Science Educator Scholarship. Charles William Hunter IV, of Mahtomedi, Minn., is pursuing his master’s degree and licensure as a secondary school science teacher through the university’s STEMteach graduate program.
 
Chancellor's Blog: More than research
What could an accounting major from Rochester, Minn. gain from studying the health care system of Slovenia? Just ask University of Wisconsin-River Falls student Kristy Strain, who spent the fall interviewing individuals and organizations in Slovenia on the Semester Abroad: Europe program. Not only did the research experience help Kristy become more knowledgeable about one of her passions – international health care – it also gave her the opportunity to gain critical professional skills and intercultural competencies that will serve her well in the future.
 
Commencement ceremonies are Dec. 15
Dec. 10, 2018-- Approximately 412 bachelor's and master's degree students will receive degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls following commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. in the Knowles Field House at the Falcon Center.
 
Physics students receive national recognition
December 20, 2018 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) recently received an Outstanding Chapter Award from the SPS national office, marking the 20th time the UW-River Falls chapter has been recognized for its excellence as a top-tier student-led physical sciences organization. This designation is given to fewer than 10 percent of all SPS chapters at colleges and universities in the United States and internationally.
 
Program proposals sought for Summit on International Education and Engagement
December 17, 2018 - Activity proposals are being sought from the public and campus for a first-ever Summit on International Education and Engagement to be held at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and in the community Nov. 18-22, 2019.
 
Student, faculty member honored by UW System
December 5, 2018 – The University of Wisconsin System recently announced the recipients of awards promoting diversity, equity and inclusion on its campuses, including two honorees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
 
Tuition discount offer for qualified educators
December 17, 2018 - For a limited time, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is offering a tuition discount to teachers and other educational professionals who apply to the Professional Development Learning Community master’s degree within the College of Education and Professional Studies.
 
Undergraduate research showcased Dec. 11
December 4, 2018 – The public is invited to the 2018 Undergraduate Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity (URSCA) Gala at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom of the University Center. The family and community-friendly event is free to attend.
 
University of Wisconsin-River Falls earns NCAA/MOAA Diversity Award
December 11, 2018 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Athletics Department has earned the NCAA and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association's 2019 Award for Diversity and Inclusion.
