Dance Theatre's anuual spring concert is April 4-7

March 23, 2018 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dance Theatre will present their annual spring concert nightly April 4-7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in Kleinpell Fine Arts. The public is invited.

The concert features the work of numerous UW-River Falls Dance Theatre alumni, current students, faculty, and professionals. The evening offers diverse dance forms from contemporary, modern, jazz, swing, tap, house, and Israeli folk fusion.

Visiting Winona State University Professor Erinn Liebhard has created a rhythmic Jazz dance titled “Half Steppin’” that explores the uniquely human experience of sharing groove with an expressive tune as a guide. “My Hell; Our Stable,” choreographed by returning guest artist Danielle Ricci is a social response inspired by men and women recovered from sex trafficking rings. The piece strives to spread awareness about this concern in our communities. Another piece which has a Hebrew name meaning peace, fuses traditional Israeli folk dance with virtuosic modern movement. This company work investigates harmony gained through nurturing community and collaboration. “Now You’re Singin’ with a Swing combines classic swing dance steps from the 30s and 40s with jazzy tap dance in an exuberant battle of styles.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (60+), $5 for students and children, and free for UWRF students with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the University Theatre Box Office beginning March 27, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and at 6:30  p.m. on performance nights, by phone at 715-425-3114 or online at http://marketplace.uwrf.edu/collections/dance-theatre.
