Chancellor Van Galen's email announcement regarding his departure from UW-River Falls

Dear UW-River Falls Campus Community:

I want to inform you that the Board of Governors of Missouri Southern State University is announcing today that I have been selected to serve as the institution’s 6^th President, effective July 1.

It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve as Chancellor of UW-River Falls over the past eleven years. I have done my very best to lead our university, and I have a deep sense of respect and gratitude for what we have accomplished, together, often during times of challenge. Most of all, our shared commitment has positively impacted the lives of so many students. I believe that this is the most important legacy that we will share. 

UW-River Falls will always be precious to both Mary and me, especially the relationships and memories forged with so many faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends. A piece of our hearts will always be here, and it is with sincerity that we express our hope to stay connected to many that we consider good colleagues and friends.

Thank you, sincerely, for the support and friendship that so many of you have provided over the years. I will certainly share some additional thoughts in the coming weeks, but for today, I wanted to be certain that you heard this news directly from me.

I anticipate that UW System President Ray Cross will be naming an interim chancellor in the near future to serve upon my departure. I will ensure that details about that transition are shared as soon as possible. In the meantime, my commitment to the university will remain strong.
