BFA Degree Art Exhibition Set at UW-River Falls

March 7, 2012--University of Wisconsin-River Falls seniors Carol Lehman, Jared Fritz, Rachel Hanson and Susanna Waits will be presenting their BFA Degree Exhibition in Gallery 101 of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at UW-River Falls from March 21-28.

Lehman, a glass major and photography minor from Rhinelander will exhibit glass sculptures and blown glass forms. She has taken simple objects from throughout her life and turned them into lively glass art.

Fritz, a clay major and minor in sculpture from Menomonie, has on display sculptures that address the human condition. Fritz is influenced by manmade atrocities and changes to our environment.

Hanson, a printmaking major and glass minor from Maple Grove, Minn., will show prints depicting different qualities of the female. His imagery focuses on breast size and weight, skin blemishes and plastic surgery. “My intent is to have the viewer question how, why and what the characteristics of beauty are and if there are any at all,” he says.

Waits, a photography major and glass minor from West Saint Paul, Minn., will display portraits of people represented through the use of photography and liquid emulsion on glass. She depicts through her images the conflicts that she, and people close to her have experienced through surrealistic and realistic imagery.

The exhibition reception is Friday, March 23, from 6-9 p.m., in Gallery 101. The exhibit and event are free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Sunday from 2-4 p.m.; closed Saturday. For more information, contact the Art Department at 715-425-3266.
