Annual Homecoming and Family Weekend Festivities Announced

September 24, 2015 -- Thursday, Oct. 2, marks the kick off the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Events will run through Sunday, Oct. 4, and feature a variety of artistic, alumni, and athletic programs, many of which are open to the public. UWRF alumni and families are invited to campus to participate in the weekend’s festivities.
 
The weekend commences on Thursday with the annual alumni St. Croix Boat Cruise beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Stillwater, Minn. Friday features the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the Riverview Ballroom of the University Center. Nine individuals and the 1988 NCAA National Championship Hockey team will be inducted during the ceremony. Tickets for both events can be reserved online.
 
Saturday’s lineup features multiple college open houses and several alumni socials. The annual Shriner’s Parade will be held on Main Street beginning at 10:30 a.m.
 
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences will offer free activities on the University Center mall from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. including calf roping, dairy calves, and the Falcon Pullers with their one-of-a-kind vehicle designed by UWRF students.
 
An all-campus tailgate will be held in the Ramer Field parking lot prior to Saturday’s athletic events. The Falcon football team takes on UW-La Crosse at 1 p.m. and the women’s soccer team faces off against UW-Whitewater at 5:30 p.m.
 
Festivities continue Saturday evening as the UWRF Symphony Band and Jazz Ensemble perform a homecoming concert at 7:30 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall in Kleinpell Fine Arts. Admission is $5/adults, $3/senior citizens and $2/students.
 
 A performance by The White Keys comedy band and the Homecoming Glow Run will wrap up the evening on the University Center mall beginning at 9 p.m.
 
The UWRF Choral Ensembles Homecoming Concert will conclude Homecoming and Family Weekend on Sunday. The concert is slated for 3 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall. Admission is $5/adults, $3/senior citizens and $2/students.
