Skills and Learning Outcomes

  • Clearly communicate your unique area of study through speaking, writing or digital media, using the standards and practices of the discipline.
  • Research and assess information about your chosen area of study using the skills, terms and methods commonly used in the field. 
  • Create learning objectives for your individual program of study. 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of three or more areas of study. 
  • Use a portfolio and capstone presentation to show you've applied what you learned to address challenges, in and outside of a classroom setting.

Types of Courses

An example integrated studies path is integrated visual media. This program focuses on the creation of visual narratives using multiple media tools like photography, illustration, film, podcasts and journalism. An emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of visual storytelling, content creation, production and media ethics. Example courses in this path would include: 

  • ART 330 Studio Illustration
  • BSIS 480 Capstone
  • GIS 351 Map Design
  • JOUR 270 Podcasting
  • JOUR 318 Narrative Journalism
  • SASA 310 Media Literacy
