Welcome to the Falcon Family!

You are officially #TheNextFalcon! Your first step is New Student Orientation, where you will build community with other new students, learn about campus resources to support you throughout your college experience, and register for classes. Learn more about your Orientation options and sign up, if applicable, below.

This information is for students starting in the Spring 2023 term. Information for future terms will be available at a later date.

First-year students, including those pursuing associate degrees, have two options to complete their mandatory Orientation experience:

  1. Attend the full in-person Orientation on Friday, January 20.

Our full Orientation will be from 8:00am-4:30pm. Students attending the full in-person Orientation may bring up to two guests to their Orientation. Guests will attend a separate Orientation from the student. Students can register their guest(s) on the same form they use to sign up for Orientation. If you plan to live on-campus and attend Orientation on January 20, you may move in on January 19 for no additional charge.

  1. Attend Express Orientation on Friday, January 20.

Students over the age of 25 are eligible to attend an abbreviated Orientation only for the afternoon with the main objective of registering for classes. Since Express students are only attending the registration portion of Orientation, these students may not bring any guests. If you plan to live on-campus and attend Orientation on January 20, you may move in on January 19 for no additional charge.

All student and family and supporter Orientation schedules can be found here.

Transfer students, including those pursuing associate degrees, have three options to complete their mandatory Orientation experience:

  1. Participate in priority registration starting Wednesday, November 16 if you have submitted a complete Admissions application, including all transcripts, by Friday, December 2.

Once you activate and access your UWRF email, you will receive an email invite to your UWRF email to access the online Orientation modules through Canvas. Please allow 24 hours for your email activation to process. After you complete the Orientation and submit all quizzes, the modules will provide instructions on how to schedule a virtual advising appointment. You must complete the online Orientation in order to register for classes. If you do not participate in priority registration, you must attend Orientation in-person on Friday, January 20.

Can't access your UWRF email? Contact our Division of Technology Services at dots@uwrf.edu or call (715) 425-3687.

  1. Attend the full in-person Orientation on Friday, January 20.

Our full Orientation will be from 8:00am-4:30pm. Students attending the full in-person Orientation do not need to complete the online Orientation or access the invite sent to their UWRF email. You may also bring up to two guests to your Orientation.

Students over the age of 25 or who have at least 60 incoming credits are eligible to attend an abbreviated Orientation only for the afternoon with the main objective of registering for classes. Students attending Express Orientation do not need to complete the online Orientation or access the invite sent to their UWRF email. Since Express students are only attending the registration portion of Orientation, these students may not bring any guests. If you plan to live on-campus and attend Orientation on January 20, you may move in on January 19 for no additional charge.

International students are required to attend International Student Orientation in-person on Thursday, January 19 and Friday, January 20. Further information and a schedule for each day will be provided by International Student Services (ISS) prior to arrival day on Wednesday, January 18.

Make sure to review the Before Orientation Checklist for additional steps to prepare for your Orientation experience.

Questions? Contact ISS at iss@uwrf.edu or Vanessa Luther (she/her/hers), ISS Manager, at vanessa.luther@uwrf.edu.

Any student exclusively taking courses online does not have to attend Orientation in-person. Instead, please e-mail orientation@uwrf.edu to invite you to access the online Orientation modules through Canvas. You will receive the invite to your UWRF e-mail. Once you complete the Orientation and submit all quizzes, the modules will provide instructions on how to schedule a virtual advising appointment. You must complete the online Orientation in order to register for classes.

High school students accepted into the Early College Credit Program (ECCP) take courses at UWRF for high school and/or college credit. Katrina Riba (she/her/hers), ECCP Coordinator, will be in contact to communicate next steps and help prepare you for registration. Registration typically takes place in early through mid-December. ECCP students do not need to complete the online Orientation or attend new student Orientation on Friday, January 20.

Students in the following special populations are not required to participate in Orientation in order to register for classes:

Re-Entry Students

Students who stepped away from college and are now returning to UWRF contact their academic advisor directly to register for classes.

Dual Academic Credit (DACP) Students

Admitted DACP students earning UWRF credit at their high school should begin to discuss DACP credit options with their teacher and guidance counselor in the Fall 2022 term prior to the beginning of the Spring 2023 term. They will work directly with their high school to register for classes.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students taking classes without being admitted to a degree or certificate program are encouraged to contact the course professor to register. Non-degree seeking students may register as early as Wednesday, November 16.
