Master class participation is open to all interested piano students in grades 6-12. Students interested in applying for inclusion must choose the fee payment during registration ($35) and submit an audition video of their musical selection after registering (link provided in confirmation email.) The audition video must include student name, selection title, and composer. The deadline for this special opportunity is Friday, Nov. 7.
Pieces for the audition video must be memorized, and the student must bring the original score to the festival.
- ALL students applying for this opportunity will receive a small group Master Class with UWRF faculty, including some individualized coaching.
- The most advanced students will then be selected to participate in a Master Class with Dr. Kasman later in the day.
- Several students will be selected to perform in the Closing Recital.
A high level of preparation is expected from every participant. Each student, with the help of their piano instructor, must prepare a solo piece at a performance level which best demonstrates the applicant’s technical skills and musicality. Suggested piano repertoire should be chosen from curated literature lists such as WSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival, WMTA Piano Solo Festival/Contest, or MMT Piano Festival. Examples may include Debussy Preludes, Chopin Scherzo, Ballade, Waltz, Mazurka or Etudes, Bach Toccata, Prelude and Fugue.
