Sally Margis University Staff Development Award Application

The Sally Margis University Staff Development Award was created to further the education and training of University Staff at UWRF. The fund was created by former UWRF employee Annette Blanchette and the Margis family as a memorial honoring Sally Margis, a former receptionist in the Chancellor’s Office who lost her battle with cancer in 1998.

Please submit your application online by completing the form below and clicking submit or print out an application here. You may copy and paste your responses from a word document. Completed applications must be emailed to sallymargiscommittee@uwrf.edu by 4:30pm on Friday, November 12th. Paper copies should be sent by intercampus mail to Lisa M. Lee (Chair, Sally Margis Award Committee) in Custodial Services, to be received by Friday, November 12, 2021.

The Sally Margis Award Committee will review applications after the application deadline and forward their decision to the chancellor. The award may be divided among multiple candidates and is considered taxable income. The award recipient(s) will be notified in advance of the award being announced and will be announced by the Chancellor at the University Staff Networking Luncheon on December 3, 2021.

Application Requirements

 

Applicants must be a permanent, project or recurring temporary University Staff employee of UWRF.

Applicants must fill out the Sally Margis University Staff Development Award Application Form and provide a statement of intent (no longer than two pages) describing:

  • Education and/or training you plan to participate in (must supply receipts for the award to be paid out).

  • How will this education or training advance your skills?

  • What direct or indirect costs will the award cover? (Examples of direct costs may include tuition or workshop/conference fees relating to career development. Examples of indirect costs may include textbooks, special equipment, and software.)

Funds must be used by June 30 of the following year. Receipts must be dated between July 2021 and June 30, 2022. Costs must be incurred directly by the employee and cannot be used for expenses that have been charged to or initially paid by the university. Please note that the award must be processed through payroll and will be considered taxable income.
