Beta Gamma Sigma Named Exemplary Chapter

Oct. 1, 2012 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls collegiate chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), has been recognized as an Exemplary Chapter for its superior level of membership acceptance during the 2011-12 academic year.

The award recognizes UWRF for its outstanding success in recruiting top business students into the society, according to UWRF College of Business and Economics Dean Glenn Potts.

With Exemplary Chapter status, the college is now eligible to award a $1,000 Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship during the 2012-13 academic year and will also receive a certificate commemorating its exemplary accomplishments.

The UWRF chapter inducted 35 new student members at its Induction Ceremony on April 23, according to chapter advisor and Associate Dean Brian Schultz. This is the second consecutive year that UWRF has received this honor.

Membership in BGS is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a baccalaureate or master's program at a school accredited by AACSB International.  Eligible students are invited to join based on their cumulative GPA in either their junior, senior or graduate year of study. Undergraduates must place in the top 10 percent of their class and graduate students must place in the top 20 percent of their class.

Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma's mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and to foster personal and professional excellence among its members.
