50th Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo to Feature Alumni Gathering, Concert
The 50th annual UW-River Falls Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-14, at the outdoor rodeo arena at the Campus Farm on the corner of Wasson Lane and Cemetery Road. Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Business and Economics (CBE) have announced the recipients of three annual advising, teaching, and research awards for outstanding CBE faculty and staff.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Physics Department begins its fall season of free, public observatory viewings and astronomy discussions on Sept. 24.
 
'First Mondays Under the Dome' Planetarium Presentations Offered
"First Mondays Under the Dome," a series of planetarium presentations about astronomy topics, will be offered the first Monday of the month (as indicated) at 7 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The presentations are free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages.
 
Grades 3-8 Common Core Mathematics Project Begins at UW-River Falls
Core Math Progressions through Fractions and Algebra will kick-off its first year of workshops and seminars later this month at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The project was funded $119,182 through the UW System to provide professional development for elementary and middle school math teachers in Western Wisconsin.
 
Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebrations Combined at UW-River Falls
UW-River Falls will welcome alumni, parents, families, and students to campus October 3-5 for the annual Homecoming celebration.
 
Living Green Wall to be Installed in UW-River Falls Classroom
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has been awarded a grant from the National Foliage Foundation to install a living green wall of foliage plants in one of the classrooms in the Agricultural Science building on campus
 
Mathematics Partnership Project Begins Third Year at UW-River Falls
Math Transition into the Common Core Era will kick-off its third year of workshops in October at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The project, funded through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides professional development for middle and high school math teachers in Western Wisconsin over a three-year period.
 
Outdoor Art Installations at UW-River Falls Oct 1-2
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department announces the 23rd Annual Outdoor Art Installations October 1-2. Art students will be creating temporary outdoor installations designed to highlight a specific site on the UWRF campus grounds.
 
Susan Harwood Training Grant Awarded to UW-River Falls for Fourth Consecutive Year
The U. S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has awarded UW-River Falls $112,506 through the Susan Harwood Training Grant. The grant will be used to continue training programs for dairy producers and their employees through the Center for Dairy Farm Safety.
 
Temple Grandin to Speak at UW-River Falls
Temple Grandin will deliver a lecture, “The World Needs all Kinds of Minds," at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Riverview Ballroom. Grandin is one of the most respected experts on humane animal handling in the world and an advocate for individuals on the autism spectrum.
 
U.S. News Names UW-River Falls a Best Regional Public and Best Midwestern University
U.S. News & World Report has named the University of Wisconsin-River Falls a Best Regional Public University and a Best Regional University-Midwest for 2015. UWRF's most recent ranking appears in the U.S. News & World Report's 2015 edition of Best Colleges, released earlier this week.
 
UW-River Falls Launches New Master of Science in Computer Science
A new master's program, a Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) will be offered through the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls beginning in fall 2015.
 
UW-River Falls Physics Professor Vonk Named Fulbright Ambassador
Matthew Vonk, associate professor of Physics at UW-River Falls, has been named a Fulbright Ambassador by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, a division of the Institute of International Education (IIE).

The Wyman Series at UW-River Falls presents the Golden Dragon Acrobats on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Knowles Center on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Xcel Energy Grant Supports Future Teachers at UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Education and Professional Studies has received a $3,000 scholarship grant from Xcel Energy. The grant money will be awarded to two teacher education students in the UW-River Falls "We Teach!" program.
