UW-River Falls Falcon Center for Health, Education and Wellness

Schedule announced for Falcon Center Grand Opening

The grand opening of the Falcon Center for Health, Education and Wellness, the largest building project in the 143- year history of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, is set for Thursday, Sept. 21.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a ribbon-cutting beginning at 12:30 p.m. Chancellor Dean Van Galen will lead the ceremony. Speakers include:

  • Senator Sheila Harsdorf, Wisconsin District 10 (includes River Falls)
  • President Ray Cross, UW System
  • President John Robert Behling, '95, UW System Board of Regents
  • President Abby Wendt, '18, UW-River Falls Student Government Association

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the facility and a public open house are schedule from 1-7 p.m. As with the ribbon-cutting, these events are free and open to the public. Participants can choose from 22 different activities and tours, including an open skate with UWRF hockey players on the Hunt Arena ice, shootarounds with the Falcon basketball teams at the new Page Arena, classroom tours, venue tours, fitness classes and much more.

"We know the Falcon Center will be a tremendous asset and gathering point on campus for our students," Chancellor Van Galen said. "We're looking forward to the grand opening event as a chance to give our entire region an exciting look into UWRF's future."

Founded in 1874, UW-River Falls is located in a scenic community just 30 miles from downtown St. Paul. UW-River Falls students are empowered, beginning in their first semester, to participate in hands-on research, global travel, and collaborative learning with award-winning and caring faculty.
