10th Annual Bowls for Hope event to benefit River Falls Sunshine Fund
January 9, 2019 - Each March the University of Wisconsin-River Falls works with the community to raise funds through the Bowls for Hope event where proceeds raised help a worthy organization make a difference in the St. Croix Valley. River Falls Sunshine Fund has been selected as the benefiting organization this year.
 
Graduate program tuition discount deadline extended
January 3, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has extended the deadline for teachers and other educational professionals to apply for a tuition discount to the Professional Development Learning Community master’s degree within the College of Education and Professional Studies.
 
Spring semester public astronomy talks and observatory viewings
January 24, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Physics Department begins its spring season of free public observatory viewings and astronomy talks on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Objects to be seen include planets, globular clusters, open clusters, nebulae, galaxies, moons, and double stars.
 
Team places first in National Forage Bowl
January 17, 2019 - A team of students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls took first place in the National Forage Bowl competition held in conjunction with the 75th Annual Conference of the American Forage and Grassland Council in St. Louis, Mo., January 6-9.
 
UW-River Falls earns NCAA/MOAA Diversity Award
January 25, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Athletics Department was honored with the NCAA and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association's 2019 Award for Diversity and Inclusion during the NCAA Convention today in Orlando, Fla.
 
UW-River Falls earns reaccreditation from Higher Learning Commission
January 16, 2019 - The status of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as an accredited institution of higher education has been reaffirmed by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Accreditation is a process used to evaluate the quality of post-secondary educational institutions and to ensure certain standards are met.
 
UW-River Falls mourns the passing of former Dean and Professor Emeritus Richard Swensen
January 15, 2019 - Beloved and well-respected member of the UW-River Falls community, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry Richard “Dick” Swensen, who also served as chair of the Chemistry Department from 1967 to 1969 and as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1969 to 1988, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10. Swensen, who retired from UW-River Falls in 1993, left behind a legacy of integrity, academic contributions and visionary leadership, as well as a lasting legacy of generosity and service.
