Ag Day on Campus is April 24
April 10, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls chapter of the Collegiate Farm Bureau will host the fourth annual Ag Day on Campus on Wednesday, April 24, to promote all that Wisconsin agriculture has to offer.
 
Annual Colt Sale set for May 4
April 18, 2019 – Forty-five high quality two-year-old horses and ten aged lesson horses will be offered for sale at the 43rd Annual UW-River Falls Colt Sale on Saturday, May 4, at the UWRF Campus Farm, 1475 S. Wasson Lane, River Falls. The young horses have been trained by UW-River Falls students enrolled in the Principles of Training Horses class under the direction of Nathan O’Connor. The lesson horses have been used in riding classes taught at UWRF.

Commencement ceremonies are May 11
April 30, 2019 - Approximately 941 bachelor's and master's degree students will receive degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls following two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 11, in the Knowles Field House at the Falcon Center.
 
Dance Theatre to present annual spring concert
April 1, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dance Theatre will present its annual spring concert April 10-13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building.
 
Horse judging youth clinic offered
April 1, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is offering a Horse Judging Youth Clinic on Saturday, April 20, at the Campus Farm, 1475 S. Wasson Lane, River Falls. The clinic is intended for 4-H and FFA youth interested in learning or improving their horse judging skills. FFA advisers, 4-H leaders and coaches are also encouraged to attend.
 
International Bazaar set for April 17
April 4, 2019 – The Global Programming Society (GPS) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is bringing diversity not only to UWRF but also to the River Falls community by hosting their annual International Bazaar Wednesday, April 17, beginning at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Murry named Ag Engineering Undergrad Student of the Year by ASABE
April 4, 2019 – University of Wisconsin-River Falls senior Lindsey Murry has been named the 2019 Agricultural Engineering Undergraduate Student of the Year by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Murry, of Mosinee, will be the first graduate of the agricultural engineering program at UW-River Falls when she walks across the stage to receive her diploma next month.
 
Onken named interim dean of the College of Business and Economics
April 2, 2019 - Marina H. Onken, associate professor of management in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, has been named interim dean of the college.
 
Registration open for summer ACT test prep
April 18, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Continuing Education office has opened registration for the annual ACT Summer Institute, an intensive ACT test preparation course held on campus for high school students looking to prepare for the ACT test and increase their scores. Live-online ACT prep classes are also available.
 
SBDC at UW-River Falls honored by Small Business Administration
April 30, 2019 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Director Danielle Campeau have been recognized for extraordinary improvements in client outreach by the Wisconsin district of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
 
Scharfman is 8th Annual Nilsestuen Legacy speaker
April 2, 2019 - Paul Scharfman, president of Specialty Cheese Company, Inc., will discuss leadership in difficult times with the presentation "The Neuroscientist, The Mystic and The Cheesemaker: Teaching Emotional Intelligence for Employee Retention" on Wednesday, April 10, at 2 p.m. in the Kinnickinnic Theater in the University Center at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Six students honored with Chancellor’s Award
April 30, 2019 – The university’s highest non-academic honor was bestowed upon six University of Wisconsin-River Falls students during the annual Chancellor’s Award for Students ceremony April 25 in the University Center.
 
Soils and crops judging teams rank high at NACTA
April 29, 2019 -- Teams from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls took second place in the soils competition and fifth place in the crops competition at the annual North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference at Murray State University in Murray, Ky., April 10-13. Soils team member Molly McIlquham of Chippewa Falls also placed third individually.
 
Speaker to address carbon waste, plastic waste
April 8, 2019 - A free public presentation on "Carbon Waste, Plastic Waste: How Regulations Change Behaviors," will be presented at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Wednesday, April 17, from 4-5:30 p.m. in 120 South Hall.
 
Stallion now calls UW-River Falls home
April 5, 2019 - March 11 was a big day for Lil Ruf Rider. After the long ride from California, he walked off the trailer at his new home at the Campus Farm at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and promptly had his first new experience. He stuck his nose in the deep snow, his eyes got big, and it was obvious that he did not quite know what to think.
 
Thirteen seniors present BFA exhibitions
April 8, 2019 – Thirteen University of Wisconsin-River Falls seniors will present their Bachelor of Fine Arts senior thesis exhibitions April 11- May 8 in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. A reception is April 12, from 4-7 p.m.

Uncle Kracker and Eric Paslay to play at Finals Fest April 26
April 1, 2019 – Finals Fest 2019 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will showcase two acts on Friday, April 26. Uncle Kracker will headline the show performing at 8:15 p.m. An opener by Country artist Eric Paslay will start the evening at 7 p.m. The event, in the Falcon’s Nest of the University Center, is free and open to the public, but UW-River Falls students will have first priority upon access to the venue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
 
Undergraduates to participate in Research in the Rotunda April 17
April 8, 2019 – University of Wisconsin-River Falls students will share research on topics ranging from using genomics to determine coyote lineage in Minnesota and Wisconsin to the science of facial tracking software during the 16th Annual Research in the Rotunda event in Madison April 17.
 
University Theatre to present ‘Proof’
April 19, 2019 - University Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will present the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Proof” by David Auburn April 30-May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Syse Black Box Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building.
 
UW-River Falls to host Joint Finance Committee hearing April 15
April 2, 2019 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is honored to have been selected as a venue for one of four biennial budget public hearings being held by the State Joint Finance Committee. The hearings to provide feedback on the proposed 2019-21 Wisconsin State Budget were publicly announced late last week and the campus is now preparing for what it hopes will be a strong community turnout. The hearing will be on Monday, April 15, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom of the University Center.
 
UW-River Falls to host workshop on understanding the transgender experience
April 15, 2019—The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will host “Growing Up Transgender” on Wednesday, June 12, in partnership with UW-Eau Claire. The day-long workshop is designed for professionals who play a role in caring for and advocating for transgender youth.
 
Wuethrich named UW-River Falls 2019 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist
April 29, 2019 – Dallas Wuethrich, former president of Grassland Dairy Products, Inc. in Greenwood, was named the 2019 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist by the UW-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at the college’s 53rd Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet April 19.
 
Zierath to receive honorary degree at commencement May 11
April 30, 2019 - Distinguished Alumna Juleen Zierath will be awarded an honorary doctor of science degree during spring commencement May 11 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
