40th Annual Colt Sale is May 7 at UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will host the 40th Annual Colt Sale on Saturday, May 7, where 50 high quality two-year-old horses will be offered for sale.

Seven contests qualified teams to compete in the Wisconsin FFA state contest April 29 in Madison and two of the contests qualified teams to go on to the national contest in October following the 56th Annual Agricultural Technology Contest held April 2 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Six UW-River Falls students honored with Chancellor’s Award
Six University of Wisconsin-River Falls students received the 2016 Chancellor's Award for Students and were honored at a ceremony on campus April 28. The Chancellor's Award for Students is the highest non-academic honor a student can receive at UW-River Falls.
 
Spaeth named Agriculture Future of America campus ambassador for UW-River Falls
Kaylin Spaeth, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, has been selected as one of 15 campus ambassadors for Agriculture Future of America (AFA). Spaeth, of Emerald, is studying agricultural business and dairy science at UWRF.

State budget reductions impact UW-River Falls
The impact of reductions in state support for the University of Wisconsin System, approved last July as part of the 2015-2017 state budget, are being reported by UW campuses. Recently, each of the 13 four-year universities as well as UW Colleges and Extension provided a written summary of impacts to the UW Board of Regents. Student named ASABE Ag Engineering Technology Student of the Year
University of Wisconsin-River Falls student Dylan Heimmermann has been named the Agricultural Engineering Technology Student of the Year by the Wisconsin chapter of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE).
 
UW-River Falls again earns STARS Silver Rating for sustainability efforts
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has earned its fourth consecutive STARS Silver Rating in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, measures and encourages sustainability in all aspects of higher education.
 
UW-River Falls Collegiate DECA students place as a top 10 international finalist at International Career Development Conference
Amid more than 1,300 competitors, five students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls DECA chapter placed as a top 10 international finalists at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Washington D.C. April 16-19.
 
UW-River Falls English professor’s work honored in China
University of Wisconsin-River Falls English Professor Greta Gaard will have her work honored in a scholarly journal in China. The dedication to her work is set to accompany the much anticipated translation and publication of her creative non-fiction book, “The Nature of Home,” into Chinese.
 
UW-River Falls Finals Fest showcases three acts
This year’s Finals Fest event at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls showcases three acts: live EDM, J Buzzi performing “Falcon Nation,” and Glow Party Entertainment from GenerationNOW on Friday, May 6, in the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with music beginning at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
 
UW-River Falls hosts Juried Student Exhibition in Gallery 101
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department is hosting its annual Juried Student Exhibition April 20-May 4 in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
UW-River Falls innovation team continues on to international competition
University of Wisconsin-River Falls Director for the Center of Innovation and Business Development Danielle Campeau announced today that UW-River Falls Team Protein Pod was the winner of the university’s Second Annual Innovation Challenge. The win means the team is now accepted into the International Business Model Competition at the Microsoft Ventures Campus in Redmond, Wash., April 29-30 where they will compete with teams from around the world for more than $75,000 in prize money.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls innovation teams Hippy Feet and Protein Pod placed first and third, respectively, at the Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament held in Madison April 9.

University of Wisconsin-River Falls Stage and Screen Arts students won big during the 2016 NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) Upper Midwest Student Production Awards held April 10 at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Mall of America.
 
UW-River Falls students present at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls sent 56 students to present their undergraduate research, scholarly, and creative projects at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at the University of North Carolina Asheville April 7-9.
 
UW-River Falls team earns first place at North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls dairy team earned a first place award in the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) held in Syracuse, N.Y., April 7-9. This was the 15th year of this international competition, which involved 128 students from 32 different universities.
 
UW-River Falls to host Ag Day to raise agriculture awareness
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter will host the fourth annual Ag Day on Campus on Tuesday, April 19, to promote Wisconsin agriculture. All events are free and open to the public.s
 
Yanny Honored as UW-River Falls 2016 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist
Michael Yanny, owner of JN Plant Selections and Senior Horticulturalist at Johnson’s Nursery in Menomonee Falls, was honored as the 2016 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist by the UW-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at their 50th Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet April 21.
