If you are looking for your next performance horse prospect or just a trail riding companion, consider the 2015 University of Wisconsin-River Falls 39th Annual Colt Sale Saturday, May 2, at the UWRF Campus Farm located at 1475 S. Wasson Lane, River Falls. For sale are 45 two-year-old prospects and eight aged horses.
 
Alumni Honored With Outstanding Young Alumni and Lifetime Achievement Awards
Dr. Jason Staszko, a former U.S. Marine combat physician, and William Dobson, an economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan, were honored by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Alumni Association April 24 in the University Center.
 
American Society of Horticultural Science Names Outstanding Senior and Collegiate Scholars
Senior Jameson Coopman has been named the 2015 Outstanding Senior in Horticulture at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls by the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS). He is a senior double majoring in horticulture and Spanish.
 
Chilean Artist Benjamin Lira to Visit UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department will welcome Chilean Artist Benjamin Lira as the Spring 2015 Walker D. and Helen Bryant Wyman Visiting Professor April 27-28. He will present two free public lectures.

Holte Named 2015 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist
Jim Holte, President of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF), was honored as the 2015 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist by the UW-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) at their 49th Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet April 23.
 
Juried Student Exhibition in Gallery 101 at UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department is hosting the 2015 Juried Student Exhibition in Gallery 101, Kleinpell Fine Arts building, April 20-May 6. The exhibition is free and open to all.
 
Mother and Son Pursue MBA Degrees at UWRF Hudson Center
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has a rich history of educating multiple generations of students from the same family, but rarely has that education occurred in the same place at the same time. In a sign of the modern trend of lifelong learning, Shari Nepper and her son Nick Nepper began pursuit of the masters in business administration in the summer of 2014 at the UW-River Falls Hudson Center.
 
Onan Named 2015 Distinguished Teacher at UW-River Falls
Gary Onan, professor of Animal Science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, has been named the 2015 Distinguished Teacher. Chosen by graduating seniors and recent graduates, the distinguished teaching recipients represent talented and caring educators–teachers who make a difference.

Student Team from UW-River Falls Wins $25,000 at the Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament
A small packet of soap has led to very big things for three UW-River Falls students and aspiring entrepreneurs. Eric Wenz, a senior from Hudson majoring in business administration; Andrew Lind, a senior from Bloomington, Minn., majoring in business administration; and An Trieu, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., majoring in chemistry, took first place in the 2nd annual Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament held April 11 in Madison.
 
Students Present Research at National Conference on Undergraduate Research
More than 80 students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls presented their research and creative works at the 29th Annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) April 16-18 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.
 
Students Shine at UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research
Two University of Wisconsin-River Falls undergraduates received outstanding presentation awards at the 14th Annual UW System Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity held in Milwaukee April 24.
 
Theatre Students Present Three Nights of Free One Acts
Theatre students at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will showcase what they have learned over the past semester by presenting a three-night event of student-directed one acts Tuesday-Thursday, May 5-7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Syse Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. The shows are free to anyone who wants to come and support the student’s work and witness short plays ranging in themes.
 
UWRF Student Wins Award at the 29th Annual Japanese Language Speech Contest
Kevin Leor received the Japan Airlines Award at the 29th Annual Japanese Language Speech Contest held March 21 at the Consulate General of Japan-Chicago.
 
UW-River Falls Named a Top University Sales Program for Second Consecutive Year
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has been recognized, once again, by the Sales Education Foundation (SEF) as one of the “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education” for 2015. Programs acknowledged in this way are noted by SEF as the best schools for preparing students for careers in professional selling and helping to elevate the sales profession.
 
UW-River Falls Soils Team is Back-to-Back National Champions
For the second year in a row the University of Wisconsin- River Falls soil judging team took first place in the soils competition at the annual North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference in Moline, Ill. April 7-10.
 
UW-River Falls Student Meets With Congressional Leaders in Washington, D.C. for National Ag Day
University of Wisconsin-River Falls sophomore Bryce Krull, an agricultural marketing communications major from Lake Mills, was one of 100 student representatives who brought agriculture’s story to Washington, D.C. March 16-19 in honor of National Ag Day.
 
UW-River Falls to Host Advanced Placement U.S. History Review Day
The University of Wisconsin–River Falls History and Philosophy Department will host the 19th annual Advanced Placement U.S. History Review (APUSH) Day for high school students on April 27.
 
UW-River Falls University Theatre Presents ‘Hay Fever’
April 10, 2015--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls University Theatre will present the delightfully infectious comedy, “Hay Fever,” written by Noel Coward, April 23-25, April 30, and May 1-2, in the Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
