St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra presents "An American Portrait"

Oct. 25, 2011--The St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra will present "An American Portrait," featuring Roger McVey, piano soloist with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, plus vocalist Jen Burley-Bentz with selections by Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and George Gershwin in two performances in November. 

The first performance is set for Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater, Minn. Admission is by donation. The second performance is set for Monday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at UW-River Falls. Admission is $5/adult, $3/seniors, and $2/students. 

With more than 50 members, the SCVS Orchestra presents concerts that offer music that speaks to people of all ages.  Famous medley selections of "West Side Story" by Bernstein and "Fiddler on the Roof" by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, plus marches by John Philip Sousa round out the program of American music. For further information, contact Kristin Tjornehoj at kristin.tjornehoj@uwrf.edu or visit www.scvsymphony.org or www.uwrf.edu/music.
