50th Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo to Feature Alumni Gathering, Concert

August 28, 2014 -- The 50th annual UW-River Falls Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-14, at the outdoor rodeo arena at the Campus Farm on the corner of Wasson Lane and Cemetery Road. Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited.

Ticket prices are $12/adults; $8/children under 12 and UWRF students; children age 4 and under are free. Food will be available for purchase at the concession stand. Tickets purchased prior to the show will be $2 off the listed prices. Pre-show tickets can be purchased in the Agricultural Sciences building Sept. 9-11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and in the University Center Sept. 10-11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Alumni are invited to join in the fun of the 50th anniversary celebration of the rodeo. Alumni can participate in a beanbag tournament on Saturday afternoon followed by a picnic-style dinner on the farm with a brief after-dinner program recognizing past and current supporters of the rodeo.

Alumni and the public may attend a concert by the Tim Sigler Band (a favorite of country music fans in the upper Midwest) following the Saturday evening rodeo. The concert will begin at 9:30 p.m. Cost for the concert is $10; with a rodeo ticket the cost is $5.

The first rodeo at UWRF was held in the spring, May 16-17, 1964, and featured the standard five rodeo events.  The Saturday contest was preceded by a dance and parade.
