Scholarships – Investing in Student Success

With more than $2 million awarded in scholarships each year, UW-River Falls continues to be among the top scholarship providers in the UW System. We’re committed to offering need and merit-based scholarships to students with a history of strong academic performance – with or without test scores. 

UWRF awards first-year scholarships based on a comprehensive review of criteria including your history of academic performance, background and experiences, financial need, leadership, and potential to enrich the campus community.

Take a closer look at some of our new and transfer student scholarships:

Chancellor’s Scholarship

This scholarship supports students with exceptional academic performance and leadership qualities. 

  • Must have a high school GPA of 3.8 or higher OR rank in the top 10% of their high school class OR have a 28 ACT (1310 SAT) or higher 
  • Must submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, mentor, etc. explaining the student’s leadership and academic potential 
  • Must write an essay 

The award is for four academic years, provided academic standards (minimum 3.00 GPA and progress towards a degree) are maintained. The scholarship includes a $2,000.00 stipend that may be used for undergraduate research or to study abroad during the junior or senior year. 

Award: Full-tuition or Half-tuition + $2000 Stipend 
Scopes: Incoming Freshman Scholarships 
Deadline: 01/01/2021 

Falcon Scholars Scholarship

 

 This scholarship supports students with strong academic performance and leadership qualities.

  • Must have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher OR rank in the top 25% of their high school class OR have a 25 ACT (1200 SAT) or higher 

Scholarships are $1,000.00 for the freshman year and available for an additional three years.
Also includes a $2,000.00 stipend that may be used for undergraduate research or to study abroad during the junior or senior year. 

Award: $1000 Annually + $2000 Stipend
Scopes: Incoming Freshman Scholarships
Deadline: 02/01/2021 

Diversity Success Scholarship ($1,000-$3,500)

This one-time award is given to select ethnically diverse or economically disadvantaged incoming freshmen.  Preference will be given (but not limited to) participants from college access programs.

Falcons Soar Scholarship ($500-$2,500)

This one-time award is offered to new freshmen with a history of strong academic performance.

Falcons Fly Higher Scholarship ($500-$2,500)

This one-time award is offered to new freshmen or transfer students.  Academic potential, background and experiences, financial need, leadership, and the potential to enrich the campus community are given consideration when making these awards.

Study in Wisconsin Scholarship ($3,000 per year)

This scholarship is awarded to non-resident students and is renewable for up to four years. This award excludes Minnesota (due to reciprocity), Midwest Student Exchange (MSEP), and Return to Wisconsin participants. Students will be automatically awarded after admission.
