UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls
Hey, future Falcon! We are so excited for you to join the Falcon Family. Please follow the admitted student checklist to make sure you're prepared to join us on campus soon!
Activate Your Falcon Account
Your Falcon account is used to select on campus housing, access your financial aid, check UWRF email, and register for classes. Activate your account online with your student ID number.
Check Your UWRF E-mail Account
Your university e-mail account is the primary way the university will connect with you throughout the enrollment process. Be sure to check your account regularly for campus updates.
Apply for Financial Aid
After October 1, fill out and submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using UWRF's School Code: 003923. The FAFSA is used to apply for federal and state financial aid.
Sign up for Transfer Student Registration
You'll be invited to attend Transfer Student Registration via email. During the program, you'll meet with an academic adviser, learn the online registration process, meet other new students and leave campus with a complete class schedule.
Review Your Official Credit Evaluation
You will be notified via email when your official credit evaluation is complete and ready for your review. You can access this information through your eSIS (electronic student information system) account with your Falcon account information.
Take UW System Placement Tests
UW System placement tests are traditionally required for all new students who have not completed college-level courses in English or math. Refer to our Placement Test Information to determine if you need to take the placement test.
The 2021 placement tests will be offered virtually. Students will be able to sign up for their testing date online beginning on March 15, 2021.
Apply for Scholarships
Transfer students are encouraged to apply for university scholarships! Activate your Falcon Account and complete the general application to be matched with potential scholarship awards. The deadlines for most university scholarships, including the Falcon Transfer Scholarship, are in February.
Note: The 2021-2022 scholarship application priority deadline has passed, however we will continue to review applications for the Falcons Fly Higher scholarship through August.
Apply for Housing or Complete Commuter Form
All students are required to live in the residence halls unless they are 21 years of age or older or graduated from high school at least two years prior to the start of the academic year residence hall contract. Please view the residency policy details for further information.
Living on campus
It is important for all admitted students to go to the Residence Hall Portal early and submit the residence hall contract deposit. The earlier you pay your housing deposit and complete the contract, the more likely Residence Life will be able to honor your preferences. However, there are no guarantees.
The residence hall contract does require a $135 deposit to complete. If are experiencing a financial hardship that makes it difficult for your to pay the housing deposit, please contact the Admissions Office or Department of Residence Life to defer your housing contract payment until your first term of enrollment.
Commuting to campus
New students who would like to commute from the home of a parent or legal guardian, from within an approved commuting zip code, must complete a notarized commuter form. Please review the commuter policy for further information.
Apply for Tuition Reciprocity (Minnesota residents)
If you are a Minnesota resident, be sure to fill out the Reciprocity Form. This simple online form will allow you to pay a tuition rate comparable to what is charged to Wisconsin residents. March 2021 is the earliest you will be able to apply for reciprocity for the 2021-2022 academic year. Please make sure you complete the reciprocity application for the correct academic year.
If you have not already visited campus, schedule your visit now! You can arrange a weekly tour and information session or attend one of our Falcon Preview Days, which are special programs that give you a closer look at the university.
Send Official Final Transcripts
Don't forget to send us your final college transcripts! We'll verify that you've successfully completed your most recent term. We will need official copies of your transcripts sent directly to UWRF from any and all prior institutions you've earned credit at.
Upload Your University ID Photo
Your ID card is an important tool that you'll need on campus to check out textbooks, access your residence hall and meal plan, receive student discounts, and more. Submit your University ID photo here!
Students with disabilities who are interested in receiving accommodations should contact Ability Services soon after being admitted.
