COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Resources -  Information regarding FMLA (Public Health Emergency Leave), Furloughs, COVID-19 Leave, entering time on timesheets, workstudy information and a helpful Q&A.

On-campus Employee Screening Questionnaire – Acknowledgement must be completed at the start of each day working on campus.  Self-assessment must be conducted at home prior to coming to campus.  Employees are responsible to contact supervisor immediately and stay home if response is “yes” to any questions on the screening questionnaire.

Employee Screening Telephone Reporting Instructions – For employees with limited computer access, supervisors may allow daily telephone reporting by providing their Falcon ID.

Supervisor Screening Questionnaire Report – Report provides employee name and dates of daily acknowledgements.  Supervisors with employees working on campus are required to review the report on a daily basis to ensure all employees have completed the daily acknowledgement of the screening questionnaire. Supervisor FAQs 

Emergency Leave Request: COVID-19 - This eform is for Faculty, Academic Staff, University Staff, Limited Appointees and Temporary Employees who are unable to perform their assigned duties during the COVID-19 pandemic.  COVID-19 leave is prorated by % FTE up to 80 hours as of April 1, 2020. Use of COVID-19 leave is only available to be claimed during the policy period, leave expires on December 31, 2020.  Actual use of COVID-19 leave must be submitted and approved on a timesheet (including monthly employees). Emergency Telecommuting Agreement - Agreement is for all employees to complete who are telecommuting partially or fully.   

Furlough Preference Notice - Available for employees to notify their supervisor of their preference for a particular furlough assignment, in the event the decision is made to place the employee on a furlough.

Unemployment Compensation - The business address for UW-River Falls that should be used when applying for unemployment compensation is  410 S. 3rd Street, River Falls, WI 54022. 

Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Unemployment Benefits Delays (Falcon Daily 7/9/2020)

Due to the overwhelming number of unemployment benefits claims submitted during the first half of 2020, the WI DWD is experiencing significant processing delays. Furthermore, the federal government requires that the claims of all employees of educational institutions undergo an additional Educational Review to determine if they were employed for the school-year or year-round. This delay is being felt across the UW-System workforce due to the widespread impact of COVID-19. 

Our UWRF HR office has been reaching out regularly to the DWD office on behalf of our employees, but we have not been provided with a definitive timeline as to when these reviews will be taking place - only that the DWD offices are working on them as quickly as possible. Rest assured that we will continue to respond to all requests for information in a timely manner so that your claim is not being held up on this end. We understand the importance and will support you however we can.

If you have an unemployment claim:

  1. Continue to monitor your claim account for changes. Submit weekly reports, where applicable. See DWD weekly reporting instructions here
  2. Watch your mail for your portion of the Educational Review and promptly respond. DWD will reach out to claimants to confirm employment details as part of the review.
