Homecoming 2017 details!

Welcome back to campus for homecoming weekend! We are so excited! This year, there will not be a separate formal Family Day or Family Weekend. Families, alumni, and current students are all encouraged to attend and participate in the homecoming festivities. There also is no registration process to participate in homecoming and everything can be purchased a la carte the day of. You can just show up and enjoy the Falcon festivities. Also, most events will take place out at the new Falcon Center, adjacent to the David Smith Stadium at Ramer Field. Let’s go Falcons! For questions, email

Tuesday, Oct. 3

Border Battle Tug-o-war
Do you love Minnesota or Wisconsin? Do you want to participate in an epic tug-o-war? Come to David Smith Stadium at Ramer Field at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, to defend your state’s title. The first attendees to Smith Stadium will receive a limited edition homecoming buff (first come, first serve).

Thursday, Oct. 5

St. Croix River Boat Cruise
Stillwater, Minn.

Campus update at the Dock Cafe at 4:30 p.m.

Boarding of the Riverboat at 5:45 p.m.

The annual St. Croix Boat Cruise will kick off homecoming weekend festivities! Join us in Stillwater for a university update and reception at the Dock Café beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the boarding of a St. Croix Riverboat at 5:45 p.m. The cruise includes a dinner buffet and some amazing views of the fall colors on the St. Croix River.

Dinner includes St. Louis style BBQ ribs served with herb roasted chicken, potato, southern black beans, creamy coleslaw, fresh fruit, roll and butter and a gourmet cookie assortment. A cash bar will also be available.

Cost is $38/per person. Ticket price includes appetizers at the Dock Café and a dinner and cruise ticket.

This event is independent of the weekend registration package.

Homecoming Music Event

Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts, noon

The Frances Cohler Coffee Concerts Series features Vicki Anderson on guitar and vocals. A UWRF graduate, Vicki performs an eclectic array of folk style music filled with meaning and stories. This concert honors retired English Department Professor Nick Karolides with a reception following the event. Free and open to the public.  


Alumni Advisory Board Meeting
RCU Community Room, Falcon Center, 12:30 - 4 p.m.

The UW-River Falls Alumni Advisory Board will host its annual fall meeting on campus. The board will serve as a central link between the university and our alumni. The board is composed of 23 at-large members along with a student representative. The board meets twice each year on campus.


Athletic Hall of Fame
University Center,  6-9 p.m.

All alumni and friends are invited to join us at the 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has selected six outstanding individuals along with a team to be inducted into the UWRF Athletic Hall of Fame. The individuals to be inducted include: Krystle Brune Brown (volleyball), Sarah Carlson (soccer), Jill Crandall (track and field), Rich Melzer (basketball), Glenn Oehlke (football), George Hansen (positive contributor), and the 1946-50 men’s basketball teams.

Falcon Center Tours

After nearly two decades of efforts, the largest building project in the 140-year anniversary of UW-River Falls will officially opened Sept. 21. The $63.5 million Falcon Center provides outstanding spaces for academics, wellness, recreation and athletics. Tours will depart from the alumni welcome tent near the Falcon Center on 15-minute intervals.


College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES)

Celebrate homecoming with a Sunday afternoon vocal concert featuring current choirs and the Alumni Choir. The alumni choir is led by Elliot Wold. Jong Wong Park conducts the Concert Choir.
