The Veteran Services Office is staffed by veterans for veterans.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure student veterans, reservists, National Guard, active duty and family members receive university support in achieving academic success.

The mission is accomplished through the following goals:

  1.    Assisting students receiving their requested educational benefits.
  2.    Raising awareness of campus resources available to students.
  3.    Raising awareness of federal and state resources available to veterans

How to Apply for Federal Educational Benefits

Apply for Federal VA Educational Benefits HERE (Chapter 30, 33, 35 and 1606)

It is helpful to have your DD-214 on hand while you fill out the application.

Here is a link to request Military Service Records (including DD-214):

How to Apply for State Educational Benefits

Visit the UWRF Veteran Services Office and fill out your eligibility paperwork. In approximately 6-8 weeks, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs will send you and UWRF an eligibility form. It is always best to check with your school to make sure they received this document.

What's Next?

Once you register for classes, make sure you visit our office bringing:

 ___ Copy of your DD-214 (Member 4)

___ Certificate of Eligibility (Federal or State)

___ Complete your  Request for Certification of Veterans Benefits

If you drop or add a class during the semester, you must notify our office. Failure to do so may result in a debt to you.

Please Note

  • You will have to fill out a Certification Request online form EVERY semester.   Click here

  • All students receiving either the Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty or Selected Reserve must verify their enrollments monthly to receive payments on WAVE or by calling 1-877-823-2378 and following the prompts.
  • The Wisconsin GI Bill does not cover all educational costs. Check with Veteran Services to determine which tuition/fees are not covered.

Principles of Excellence

In compliance with federal regulations, UW-River Falls discloses its estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) as defined for and utilized in packaging financial aid awards. This COA estimate is inclusive of both actual charges and other individual personal costs of attending college, so it will not reflect the exact total you see on your bill. In reviewing charges, please note that UWRF includes a textbook rental charge in its fees, offering students a significant out-of-pocket cost benefit.

The various COA estimates can be found at the UWRF financial aid website

Financial Aid counselors are available to assist at or at 715-425-3141.
