Welcome back to campus for Homecoming Weekend! We are so excited for Homecoming 2017! This year, there will not be a separate, formal Family Day or Family Weekend. Families, alumni, and current students are all encouraged to attend and participate in the Homecoming festivities.  There also is no registration process to participate in Homecoming and everything can be purchased a la carte the day of. You can just show up and enjoy the Falcon Festivities.  Also, most events will take place out at the new Falcon Center, adjacent to Smith Stadium! Let’s go Falcons! Homecoming Weekend Schedule: October 5-8, 2017

Thursday, October 5th

St. Croix River Boat Cruise
Stillwater, Minn.

Campus update at the Dock Cafe at 4:30 p.m.

Boarding of the Riverboat at 5:45 p.m.

The annual St. Croix Boat Cruise will kick off Homecoming weekend festivities! Join us in Stillwater, Minn., for a university update and reception at the Dock Café beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the boarding of a St. Croix Riverboat at 5:45 p.m. The cruise includes a dinner buffet and some amazing views of the fall colors on the St. Croix River.

Dinner includes: St. Louis style BBQ ribs served with herb roasted chicken, potato, southern black beans, creamy coleslaw, fresh fruit, roll and butter and a gourmet cookie assortment. A cash bar will also be available.

Cost is $38/per person. Ticket price includes appetizers at the Dock Café and a dinner and cruise ticket.

This event is independent of the weekend registration package.

Friday, October 6th

Homecoming Music Event

Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts. 12:00pm 

The Frances Cohler Coffee Concerts Series features Vicki Anderson on guitar and vocals.  A graduate at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Vicki performs an eclectic array of folk style music filled with meaning and stories.   This concert honors Nick Karolides, retired English professor with a reception following the event. Free and open to the public.  

 

Alumni Advisory Board Meeting
Alumni Room, South Hall , 12:30 - 4pm 

 The UW-River Falls Alumni Advisory Board will host its annual fall meeting on campus. The alumni advisory board will serve as a central link between the University and our alumni. The board is composed of 23 at large members along with a student representative. The Board meets twice each year on campus.

 

Athletic Hall of Fame
University Center,  6:00- 9pm 

All alumni and friends are invited to join us at the 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has selected six outstanding individuals along with a team to be inducted into the UWRF Athletic Hall of Fame. The individuals to be inducted include: Krystle Brune Brown (volleyball), Sarah Carlson (soccer), Jill Crandall (track and field) Rich Melzer (basketball), Glenn Oehlke (football), George Hansen (positive contributor), and the 1946-50 Men’s Basketball Teams.

Falcon Center Tours

After nearly two decades of efforts, the largest building project in the 140-year anniversary of UW-River Falls will officially open on September 21, 2017. The $63.5 million Falcon Center will provide outstanding spaces for academics, wellness, recreation and athletics.  Tours will depart from the alumni welcome tent near the newly constructed Falcon Center on 15-minute intervals

Reconnect with your friends!  Join us for the Saturday evening concert and bring your instruments.   If you contact us ahead, you will be mailed PDF’s of the music for the alumni portion of the concert.   Music by Erika Svanoe, John Philip Sousa, Gustav Holst, Duke Ellington, and more will be performed. Let’s reconnect and celebrate the power of music with the Symphony Band, conducted by Dr. Kristin Tjornehoj and David Milne’s Jazz Ensemble. UWRF  Homecoming Choral Concert

Celebrate Homecoming with a Sunday afternoon vocal concert featuring current choirs and the Alumni Choir. The alumni choir is led by Elliot Wold and Jong Wong Park will conduct the Concert Choir for this Homecoming celebration.Rehearsal from 9:30 a.m - 12:00 p.m. and mass choir rehearsal at 1:30 p.m $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students.
