Important Notice Regarding Textbooks

Beginning Fall Semester 2008, students will be required to obtain (purchase, rent, borrow, etc.) the necessary textbooks for the UW course offerings they will be taking. It will be the student's responsibility to bring the textbooks with them and/or obtain them prior to the first day of classes. Required textbook information is listed after each course. Textbooks for British course offerings will be available for use at Dalkeith House. (There may also be additional expenses for special courses such as art, photography, field trips, etc.)

Fall 2008 Check-in at Dalkeith House

As you make your travel arrangements please keep the following in mind:

  • Official check-in time at Dalkeith House is between 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on August 28, 2008.
  • In order to ensure a successful semester, students are required to participate in orientation activities throughout the weekend. Orientation will begin at 3:30 p.m. on August 28.

If you need to arrive prior to 9:00 a.m. on August 28, please email the Resident Director of Operations at: patty.watters@googlemail.com to make arrangements. It may be possible to arrive a day early; however, you will be staying at the house as a guest at a rate of £20 for the night and you will be expected to abide by guest policies. Any student staying at the house prior to check-in will be assigned to a guest room and will not be able to check into his/her room assignment until official check-in begins.

A few weeks before the program begins you will receive an email from the program asking for your flight details. It is imperative that you respond in a timely manner to this request. If you would like to take advantage of airport pickup service provided by the WIS program, you must arrive at the airport in Edinburgh before 12:00 p.m. (noon) on August 28. A bus will be waiting to meet students for departure to Dalkeith House at 12:15 p.m. (Note: This means departing the U.S. on August 27.) Click directions to find other modes of transportation to Dalkeith House.
