Homecoming Weekend 2014


Pre-registration is currently closed. On-site registration will still be available in the University Center from 5-8pm Friday and 9am-Noon on Saturday.



Homecoming and Family Day have been merged this year into Homecoming Weekend! Make the most of Homecoming Weekend by purchasing the weekend registration package. General Homecoming Weekend registration is $15 per person. This package includes:

  • T-shirt
  • Lunch at the Falcon Fest Homecoming tailgate
  • Ticket to the Homecoming Football game
  • Access to a complete schedule of Homecoming Weekend events, including evening entertainment

Purchase additional A-la-carte options to cater your experience and meet your needs.

Thursday, October 2

St. Croix River Boat Cruise
Stillwater, MN

Campus update at the Dock Cafe at 4:30 p.m.
Boarding of the Riverboat at 5:45 p.m.

The annual St. Croix Boat Cruise will kick off Homecoming weekend festivities!  Join us in Stillwater for a university update and reception at the Dock Café beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the boarding of a St. Croix Riverboat at 5:45 p.m. The cruise includes a dinner buffet and some amazing views of the fall colors on the St. Croix River. 

Dinner includes: St. Louis Style BBQ ribs served with herb roasted chicken, potato, southern black beans, creamy coleslaw, fresh fruit, roll and butter and a gourmet cookie assortment. Cash Bar.  

Cost is $35/per person. Ticket price includes appetizers at the Dock Café and a dinner and cruise ticket on the St. Croix boat.

There will be a short program where you will get the chance to hear from members of the university community, students, as well as fellow alumni.

Active Learning Classroom Tour
23 Hagestad Hall

Come explore and experience our new Active Learning Classroom (ALC) designed to foster student learning, collaboration, and 21st century skills. The furniture, technology, and room layout promote faculty and student interactions to help facilitate and guide student learning. The ALC contains multiple presentation modes for each student table including glass boards, tablet PC's and flat screen TV's to allow students to easily present their work for review by peers and instructors. Currently, multiple classes are being taught in the ALC including introductory physics and chemistry courses. Peer-led team learning sessions for students in some sections of introductory chemistry and math are being held in the evenings and weekends in the ALC.

Planetarium Tours
201 Agricultural Sciences Building

With our new digital projector, we take a tour of constellations that can be seen from Earth throughout the year. Then we lift off the surface of Earth digitally, fly around our solar system to visit other planets, then exit the solar system, fly beyond the Milky Way Galaxy and out the edge of the universe to explore the size and wonder of space.

Seating is limited to 50 people. Tours will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Glassblowing and Ceramics Open House
Kleinpell Fine Arts Building

Associate Professor Eoin Breadon and his studio glass students open their doors to show 3-D approaches such as glass blowing and casting. Please visit room 163 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building (KFA) from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Come view our ceramics students under the direction of Professor Randy Johnston, use traditional techniques and concepts covering the use of the wheel and constructing forms by altering thrown pieces and by using slabs, pinching, extrusion, and patterns. Doors will be open from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in room 167 of Kleinpell Fine Arts building (KFA).

Fire has fascinated and mystified people since ancient times. Our "Chem Demons" will show you some scientific wizardry, including a fire-breathing dragon, a jug of fire, and exploding balloons. Snow in October? We will make snowballs that can be lit on fire!

1:00 p.m. - Meet the real Freddy Falcon
Here is your chance to meet our living mascot, Freddy Falcon. Freddy is a Peregrine Falcon that can reach speeds greater than 200 mph. He also attends biology classes to aid students in the studies of their environments.

Step out into the darkness and help light UWRF a glow with this short distance fun run! Meander through campus with only the glow of your fellow student friends to light the way. Runners will be provided with glow sticks, band, tape, and paint at pre-run check in. Students must bring a non-perishable food item donation in order to receive event t-shirt post run finish.
