St. Croix River Boat Cruise
Stillwater, MN

Campus update at the Dock Cafe at 4:30 p.m.
Boarding of the Riverboat at 5:45 p.m.

The annual St. Croix Boat Cruise will kick off Homecoming weekend festivities! Join us in Stillwater for a university update and reception at the Dock Café beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the boarding of a St. Croix Riverboat at 5:45 p.m. The cruise includes a dinner buffet and some amazing views of the fall colors on the St. Croix River.

Dinner includes: St. Louis Style BBQ ribs served with herb roasted chicken, potato, southern black beans, creamy coleslaw, fresh fruit, roll and butter and a gourmet cookie assortment. Cash Bar.

Cost is $38/per person. Ticket price includes appetizers at the Dock Café and a dinner and cruise ticket on the St. Croix boat.

Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

All alumni and friends are invited to join us at the 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has selected nine outstanding individuals along with a team to be inducted into the UWRF Athletic Hall of Fame. The individuals to be inducted include: Lindsay Carlson (hockey), Rick Bowen (basketball), Melissa Tvrdik (volleyball), Amy Brooke Shafer (softball), Brady Alstead (hockey), Mandy Stokes (hockey), Steve Gustafson (basketball), Kris Buhrt Best (basketball), Connie Foster (positive contributor), and the 1988 NCAA National Championship Men's Hockey Team. 

The cost is $30 per person for the banquet.

The College of Education and Professional Studies will host an open house Saturday morning in the Wyman Education Building and Rodli Hall. Alumni, students, and their families are invited to interact with faculty, staff and students while touring classrooms, clinics, and labs. Renderings of the new Falcon Center also will be on display. And, there will be drawings for Falcon prizes.

The College of Business and Economics will host an open house Saturday morning at the Alumni Room in South Hall. Alumni, students, and their families are invited to interact with current and former faculty advisors along with participating in a farewell reception honoring Ellen Schultz’s retirement as a long standing faculty advisor in the college.

College of Arts & Sciences: Planetarium Tours
201 Agricultural Sciences Building

With our new digital projector, we take a tour of constellations that can be seen from Earth throughout the year. Then we lift off the surface of Earth digitally, fly around our solar system to visit other planets, then exit the solar system, fly beyond the Milky Way Galaxy and out the edge of the universe to explore the size and wonder of space.

Seating is limited to 50 people. Tours will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

College of Arts & Sciences: Glassblowing and Ceramics Open House
Kleinpell Fine Arts Building

Associate Professor Eoin Breadon and his studio glass students open their doors to show 3-D approaches such as glass blowing and casting. Please visit room 163 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building (KFA) from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Come view our ceramics students under the direction of Professor Randy Johnston, use traditional techniques and concepts covering the use of the wheel and constructing forms by altering thrown pieces and by using slabs, pinching, extrusion, and patterns. Doors will be open from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in room 167 of Kleinpell Fine Arts building (KFA).

The Dairy Pilot Plant

Agricultural Science Building, 143 Food Science Addition

Tour the dairy pilot plant where students learn dairy food processing and produce cheese and ice cream for the campus. Learn about the upcoming renovation plans for the plant and enjoy a sample of their delicious ice cream.

The geology program has an extensive collection of rocks and minerals. Come see some samples of what you can find in Wisconsin, as well as around the world. Do you have a mysterious rock that you want identified? Bring it along and let our experts help.

Calf Roping

In September 2015 the UWRF Rodeo Club hosts the 51st Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo. Try your hand at one of the authentic cowboy skills featured in the rodeo - calf roping - using our roping dummy. They say if you can rope the dummy 100 times in a row without missing, you're ready to get on a horse and give it a try!

We're bringing a small part of our farm to campus - everyone's favorite part - the dairy calves! Stop by to take a look. Their caretakers, dairy science students, will answer any questions about our dairy operation on the Mann Valley Farm or our dairy program which is one of the top three largest undergraduate programs in the nation.

The Falcon Pullers

See a one-of-a-kind vehicle designed by our students. Each year a team of students spends 9 months designing and building a ¼-scale tractor for the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering competition held in June. UWRF placed 11th in the nation last year! Take your photo on this unique machine!

The Falcon Fest Tailgate gives you an opportunity to enjoy your picnic-style lunch during endless entertainment as your prepare for the Homecoming Football game. Grilled lunch will be available from 10:30am-2pm.

12:30 p.m. - Demonstration by the Chem Demons
Fire has fascinated and mystified people since ancient times. Our "Chem Demons" will show you some scientific wizardry, including a fire-breathing dragon, a jug of fire, and exploding balloons. Snow in October? We will make snowballs that can be lit on fire!

1:00 p.m. - Meet the real Freddy Falcon
Here is your chance to meet our living mascot, Freddy Falcon. Freddy is a Peregrine Falcon that can reach speeds greater than 200 mph. He also attends biology classes to aid students in the studies of their environments.
