The Facilities Management student custodian position is an undergraduate student employee working in the academic buildings to assist permanent staff in providing basic custodial duties including the cleaning of restrooms, classrooms, and public areas. Fifty to 60 students are hired each semester as student custodians. The work schedule for this position varies. Some shifts are early mornings including 6:15-7:45 a.m., 6:15-8:30 a.m., or 6:15-8:45 a.m., and evenings 7:30-10 p.m.
The student auto shop assistant is an undergraduate who provides assistance to the auto shop operations at Facilities Management. The work includes, but is not limited to, washing and cleaning university vehicles; checking fluids and filling with gas; cleaning the auto shop and assisting the mechanic as needed. A valid driver's license and ability to obtain state vehicle driving approval are required.
The Facilities Management student grounds assistant is an undergraduate working to assist permanent staff in providing grounds care across campus. The work includes, but is not limited to, planting, weeding, watering, mowing, cleaning equipment, snow removal, litter pick up and miscellaneous assigned duties. A valid driver's license and ability to obtain state vehicle driving approval are required.
The Facilities Management student assistant for inventory/stores is an undergraduate working and assisting in the parts storeroom and receiving area as needed. The student must have ability to problem solve, pay close attention to detail, and provide excellent customer service. Forklift certification is offered. Work time availability is Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
The Facilities Management student office assistant is an undergraduate who provides office support to the professional staff. The work includes, but is not limited to, answering phone, data entry, typing, photo copying and special projects as assigned. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
The Facilities Management student assistant for postal/stores is an undergraduate working and assisting in the Postal Services and receiving area as needed. Must have ability to problem solve, have knowledge of campus buildings, and provide excellent customer service. Forklift certification is offered. Valid driver's license is required. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
