UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls
Chapter 6.6. of the Faculty & Staff Handbook provides details regarding the performance management for Academic Staff.
Purpose:
The performance review is administered once per academic year. Performance review with SMART Goals is a learning process whereby each employee's job performance is deliberately evaluated and guided to result in more effective execution of the organizational goals through the enhancement of employee performance. The performance review is intended to be a cooperative effort between supervisor and employee where SMART Goals are mutually discussed so the employee can effectively perform their responsibilities.
Process:
For new employees, this should be completed within the first 30 days of employment. For active employees, goals should be created each year after the annual performance review.
This is an informal discussion between the supervisor and the employee regarding the relevancy of the SMART Goals. The mid-year review should be documented and shared between employee and supervisor noting any changes of concerns with the original goals. For more information regarding SMART Goals, see Academic Staff SMART Goals.
