2012 - Mark Bergland


Mark Bergland is Chair of the Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and also teaches ornithology each spring semester.  He has been PI for five National Science Foundation grants to develop educational software, primarily via the Case It! project (  This software is distributed free of charge to educational institutions worldwide, including high schools, community colleges, and universities.  In addition to the Academic Advisor Award for 2012, Dr. Bergland has received two Outstanding Teaching Awards (1990, 2003) and a Scholarship Award (2004) from the College of Arts and Sciences.  He has a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University (1972) and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Wildlife Management from the University of Michigan (1978).
