Regents University Staff Excellence Award

The Regents University Staff Excellence Awards were established in spring 2021 to recognize the dedicated work, vital services, initiative, and outstanding contributions of the UW System's university staff.

Individual award(s): Two awards of $7,500 each are for university staff members in recognition of their exceptional service to the university. The funds for these awards are put into a budget account designated to support professional development or other activities approved by the recipients that enhance a university program or function.

  • The nominee should provide essential services to the university while demonstrating excellence of performance, personal interaction, initiative or creativity, and outstanding achievement.
  • The nominee must have a permanent appointment (temporary and project appointments are not eligible), be employed 50 percent or more time, and have been a university staff at their institution for a minimum of 12 months.

Program award: An award of $7,500 is for a program staffed primarily by university staff in recognition of the important role played by university staff in supporting the UW System mission, priorities, or programs. The funds for the program award are designated to support program enhancements such as the staff recipients’ professional development or program-related supplies and expenses, or for other activities approved by the recipients that enhance a university program or function.

  • The program should provide essential services to the university while demonstrating excellence of performance, initiative or creativity, and oustanding achievement.

Each UW System university may nominate one university staff and one program (staffed primarily by university staff) for this award, so a University Staff Senate selection committee will review submissions from our campus to identify which ones are to be forwarded. If deemed helpful, the selection committee may work with submitters to enhance the quality of the submitted materials to ensure they meet criteria as best possible.

Please note that the deadline to have submissions to the UWRF selection committee is earlier than what's listed in the official criteria to allow time to make a decision on what nominations to forward on and enhance them if appropriate.

CAMPUS NOMINATION DEADLINE: JUNE 4, 2021

Please submit at least a paragraph regarding why you feel the individual or program/department should be nominated for this award to universitystaffsenate@uwrf.edu. The senate will work with the nominators of the chosen campus nominees to ensure the information required is submitted to the Board of Regents.
