Faculty and Instructional Academic Staff Professional Development (FY19-Round 1):

Programs

Innovative Teaching Initiatives

Wisconsin Teaching Fellows/Scholars (WTF/S)

Two participants represent UWRF in the UW-System program. Each participant will complete a teaching and learning project during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Evidence Based Teaching Fellows (EBTF)

Up to six individuals will be chosen to work together and with the EBTF Coordinator to investigate an issue of particular interest or concern with respect to teaching and learning. Each participant will choose their own area to investigate, with guidance and support from the coordinator. Examples might include: classroom climate, information literacy, online teaching, writing assignments, flipped classrooms, etc. Meetings will begin in October and run through May.

Online Course Redesign (OCR)

Provides individual support to faculty members who are redesigning a significant portion of an existing online course.

Fall Semester
In the Fall of 2018 the OCR will be temporarily suspended. This is being done to reallocate resources in support of the Canvas Mentor program and the Canvas transition project. This will also allow us to conduct a needs analysis for future OCR sessions. The OCR will resume in the Spring 2019, and we encourage you to apply for the Spring 2019 session.

 Online Teaching Institute (OTI)

A semester long program that provides individual support to faculty members who are redesigning an existing face-to-face course for online delivery.

Fall Semester
In the Fall of 2018 the OTI will be temporarily suspended. This is being done to reallocate resources in support of the Canvas Mentor program and the Canvas transition project. This will also allow us to conduct a needs analysis for future OTI sessions. The OTI will resume in the Spring 2019, and we encourage you to apply for the Spring 2019 session.

Summer Online Training (SOT)

The Summer Online Training Program provides individual instructional development support for faculty and instructional academic staff who are redesigning an existing course for online delivery.

This is a great opportunity to work closely with instructional designers and colleagues on campus to create a great online learning experience for your future students. Upon completion of the program and delivery of the course participants will receive a stipend of $1000 per credit for their course that is delivered entirely online. Up to five participants will be accepted for the SOT.

Faculty College

Four faculty members will be selected to participate in the four-day Faculty Development experience focused on teaching and learning.

GREAT Falcon STEM Fellows

Work closely with STEM Mentors during Spring and Summer in the development of active-learning strategies for one of their course offerings in Fall. Course Development must occur during Summer 2018.
