How To Resize and Compress Images In Photoshop

How to get Photoshop on your university owned computer

The best method of resizing and compressing images is by using Photoshop. If you do not have Photoshop on your computer, locate the following programs on your university owned computer.

self service   MAC-Self service

Once you open the program look for and download Photoshop.

Resize Image

  1. Bring Photo Into Photoshop
  2. Select "Image", then select "Image Size"

3. Measure your photo in Pixels.
4.Resize to the correct dimensions and click OK.

Compress and Save Image

File Save for Web

  1. Save your file as a JPEG
  2. Compress the file between 60% and 80%. Use the photo view on the left do determine the percentage of compression. The higher the percentage the better the quality of the photo.
  3. Click Save.
